TUESDAY SAPLINGS (Spring Term 2024)
Tue, 30 Jan
|Wilderness Forest School
Time & Location
30 Jan 2024, 10:00 – 19 Mar 2024, 12:00
Wilderness Forest School, Pocket Park, St Neots, Saint Neots PE19, UK
About the event
These Forest School sessions are for our "SAPLINGS" aged children (walking-5yrs):
2 hours of child-led exploration of our site and equipment (such as mud kitchen, swings, hammocks, ropes, books, etc) with optional nature crafts, optional tool opportunities, instruments/singing, and of course, as well as a fire-cooked snack and drink.
All of our sessions are run by fully trained staff, and for this age group / session type we also require a minimum of one adult per booking to stay on site throughout.
10am-12pm on Tuesday's during term-time:
☆☆☆ new start date due to flooding: 30th January, meaning this is now an 8 week / 7 session block ☆☆☆
Our last session will be on 19th March 2024 and we will be closed on 20th February, for half term.
Use the code "latestart24ts" at checkout to reduce the cost as the original price includes the previously cancelled sessions due to flooding - of course, if you don't mind paying for the unused sessions, that is a lovely gesture and helps our tiny business to continue running despite rising food & resource costs, heavily increased rent charges, and other overheads we still need to pay regardless of floods causing multiple weeks without any sessions.
- Original price £132
- Reduced price £84
Although this block is called "Spring term" as that's the same terminology as school terms, please do be aware it begins in Winter weather and creeps into Spring at the end of term, our "Summer term" begins in Spring and ends in Summer.
Non-walking babies are welcome to attend with a paid sibling, but please note they will not be allocated snack or craft materials.
This session's staff will be: Kim Kingfisher, Kathleen Feather, Alice Foxtail, and Alex Beaver.
Forest School is an amazing opportunity to be able to offer true child-led exploration, learning and risk-taking, it develops nature connection, confidence, resilience, skill, and much more.
Six principles need to be met completely to be classed as Forest School:
1, long term and regular
2, natural setting
3, learner-centred
4, incorporate risk taking
5, building community
6, qualified staff
In the booking form we ask about medical information; please include any medications, allergies, conditions, social/behavioural/anxiety/sensory issues, dietary requirements/preferences, etc; this is to ensure we can cater for yourself and your child both emotionally and physically.
We also ask about photography - images/videos recorded by staff during the session may be used on social media, our website, advertisement and other relevant business uses in the future. If you are not happy for yourself or your child to be photographed, please select NO in the photo options; you can also allow photos but request faces are hidden if you are comfortable with this. We allow photography on site, but ask that you only take them of your own children for safeguarding purposes as not all attendees will have consent.
Please add wildernessforestschool@gmail.com to your contacts and look out for a welcome email before the start of each block as we are often filtered out into junk/spam etc!
