About the event

These WILDLINGS Forest School sessions are for our "home ed" children, aged approximately 5-16 years.

4 hours of child-led exploration of our site and equipment (such as swings, hammocks, ropes, slackline, zipline, climbing nets, books, etc) with optional nature crafts, tool opportunities, games, den building, pond dipping, nature walks, nature stories, and of course, a fire-cooked small lunch (such as soup, toasties, damper bread, etc) and drink.

10am-2pm on Thursday's during term-time:

This WINTER BLOCK will run for 6 weeks from 7th November until 12th December 2024.

To follow the flow of the seasons, help spread the cost for you, and fit in with school based term times, our half-term blocks run as follows:

SPRING BLOCK April & May

*May half term*

SUMMER BLOCK June & July

*Summer holidays*

AUTUMN BLOCK September & October

*October half term*

WINTER BLOCK November & December

*Winter holiday*

FLOOD SEASON CLOSURE January-March

This session's staff will be: Kathleen Feather, Kim Kingfisher, Alex Beaver, and Jade.

Please ensure your child has suitable clothing, a packed lunch if they will not be eating what we have to offer, plenty of snacks (nut free), a drinks bottle, and any comfort items they may need.

If your child is not home-educated (ie, is flexi-schooled or school refusal but still registered) and is not yet 8 years of age, we would then require an adult remain on site for at least 2 hours of each session. Home educated children and those 8years+ can be dropped off, though adults are welcome to stay on site if preferred.

Forest School is an amazing opportunity to be able to offer true child-led exploration, learning and risk-taking, it develops nature connection, confidence, resilience, skill, and much more.

Six principles need to be met completely to be classed as Forest School:

1, long term and regular

2, natural setting

3, learner-centred

4, incorporate risk taking

5, building community

6, qualified staff

In the booking form we ask about medical information; please include any medications, allergies, conditions, social/behavioural/anxiety/sensory issues, dietary requirements/preferences, etc; this is to ensure we can cater for your child both emotionally and physically.

We also ask about photography - images/videos recorded by staff during the session may be used on social media, our website, advertisement and other relevant business uses in the future. If you are not happy for yourself or your child to be photographed, please select NO in the photo options; you can also allow photos but request faces are hidden if you are comfortable with this. We allow photography on site, but ask that you only take them of your own children for safeguarding purposes as not all attendees will have consent.

Please add wildernessforestschool@gmail.com to your contacts and look out for a welcome email before the start of each block as we are often filtered out into junk/spam etc!
