WILDLINGS
5-15 YEARS
Thursdays 10am - 2pm
A weekly 4 hour Forest School session where home-educated children (or those who flexi school, unschool, or are simply not attending school at the moment) have the opportunity for natural exploration and child-led outdoor activities. Each session includes a variety of equipment and materials, optional crafts / nature study activities, tool-use opportunities, as well as a drink and snack.
We begin each week at our log circle where we discuss our options and ideas for the day, recap staff members and safety info, etc before heading off to explore, play and learn. At some point through the session we will offer refreshments (usually a fire-cooked snack or side dish), and children are welcome to eat their packed-lunch brought from home at whichever point best suits them - though this does usually have a snowball effect and often results in a communal lunchbreak. We will then continue our child-led exploration and activities. At the end of each session we come together once more in the log circle to share feedback before saying goodbye.
These sessions are aimed at children between 5 and 15 years of age; we ask that children attending this session are comfortable with independent toileting and being left onsite with our staff.
Our Wildlings sessions will go ahead in all weathers (except extremely high winds / dangerous storms / flooding).
Although parents are given the option to stay on site, you are encouraged to take a step back when possible, to give your child the freedom to explore and so you can enjoy seeing them flourish. Children under 8 years of age, whom are not officially Home-Educating (ie flexi-schooled / school refusal) are required to have an adult remain on site for a minimum of 2 hours each session, due to Ofsted related requirements; parents of home-ed children, or those that are at least 8 years of age, are welcome to stay on site or drop-off, depending on what works best for your individual circumstances... we have plenty of books and relaxing spaces for adults that do choose to stay.
We work hard to keep our prices as affordable as possible for the local community, but also need to ensure they cover our outgoings.
Our "WILDLINGS" Forest School sessions are priced at £28 per child per 4hr weekly session.
